Bryan Martin, CPA

Managing Partner and Founder of Taxstra PLLC

Bryan Martin is a CPA, MBA, and licensed Illinois real estate broker who founded Taxstra PLLC, a fully remote tax planning and accounting firm serving 1,000+ clients in all 50 states. He writes and reviews every tax strategy guide on this site.

Before founding Taxstra in 2022, Bryan spent 11 years in state government financial leadership, serving as CFO for the Illinois Department of Insurance and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. He built Taxstra from two acquired bookkeeping practices into a national tax strategy firm focused on high-income households: physicians, real estate investors, tech employees with equity compensation, and business owners.

Bryan's wife is a practicing physician, which is where the firm's physician focus started: he plans around locum tenens contracts, multi-state licensure, and hospital employment agreements because his own household has lived them. The rare CPA-plus-broker combination is also why real estate investors come to Taxstra for strategies most preparers avoid, like REPS qualification and the short-term rental loophole.
